ian How long do you think it will take the first company to roll out a portable Blu-Ray player.
You can buy a nice quality portable DVD player for just one hundred dollars, so obviously the technology is getting cheaper.
And, you can buy a laptop with a Blu-Ray player built in, so obviously the small technology is available.
Your thoughts? I think it’ll be interesting to see one actually produced.

i agree. that would be cool to see a portable blu-ray player. i think they will first come out in cars. instead of the dvd players that come out of the ceiling, it will be blu-ray players. but i dont think a blu-ray player that is seperate from any other devices will be out soon…
Like you said, there are already laptops where you can get Blu-ray playback on it. But I don’t think there’s going to be portable Blu-ray player anytime soon. The quality difference between a DVD and a Blu-ray on a small screen is not much to none so DVD’s still look crisp on a small screen. I think what should be done is that they should make hybrid Blu-ray/DVD discs. One side would have Blu-ray and the other side would have DVD. Wouldn’t that be a more logical point because DVD already looks crisp on a small screen?
