   no there is no hd DVD or blu ray portable DVD player.
   there will be no hd DVD one in the future because hd DVD is discontinued but blu ray will have one

   Blu-ray players play (and upconvert) DVDs.

   There are no portable HD disk players, and while I’m sure someone will make one, it makes no sense to buy one. Why pay 3-5x the price of a portable DVD player so you can watch a 1080p/24fps video disk with lossless audio on a tiny screen so you can listen on tinny speakers or headphones?
