Im looking to get a portable laptop (so not too heavy screen size isn’t too much of an issue though) that can run at least photoshop cs4 possibly illustrator simultaneuosly
(if illustrator was used i would only be using the live trace function so not much memory would be needed)
brand of the laptop isnt an issue (so i dont mind custom laptops) but price is a bit of an issue; basically the cheaper the better
some laptops seem to have quite a short battery life, im looking for one that could do about 3 hours (if thats unrealistic then please say so)
i dont mind too much about storage space either as external drives are fairly cheap now-a-days
those of you who want to know photoshop cs4 needs:
1,8ghz
1gb of ram
i was thinking:
2.3ghz+
3gb+
screen size 12″+
vista (i know people hate it but im used to it now
)
blu ray player
thanks in advance
rob
ty for the heads up cdabexx looks like a great site…
…but sadly i live in the uk
so i can’t use that one :s
where are the best places to get custom laptops? and is it cheaper to get a custom one or a standard model?

Go to this website: Cyberpower,Inc.–I bought my last 2 pcs from them and luv em both. Configure one yourself with the things you need. Its one of the few websites to get a graphics card in your laptop. Most laptop batteries last about 2 hours so unless you buy an extra battery, well u see what I mean. Some lithium batteries might go 3 hours but you will pay for the extra time. So I hope you find what you need.
If you want a personalized, reliable and quick advice, you should check out ProCompare.com (http://procompare.com/top/notebooks). They have a recommendation engine that ranks laptops and other tech products based on ratings and reviews from a community of trusted IT professionals. They also have a cool personalization slider that lets you personalize the results based on the criteria that are most important to YOU.
Hope you’ll find this answer useful…
There is really no BEST laptop brand from ANY company as these manufacturers have produced “Gold” and “Lemons” in their time.
Most answers will tell you to buy “THIS” or “THAT” brand because it is the best, just remember that it is the best for THEM not for you.
Most people will tell you of a best “brand” but their actual answer is based on the MODEL they have not the entire brand and you should not judge a company by ONE model as they make hundreds of them.
This being said, here is how to do more precise research to find the best one for YOU:
The first step is to get information on the laptops that you are interested in and, as a second step, to search online at web stores (like Amazon UK or similar) or at retail shops for the best deals on the ones you would really like to have based on your search.
This way, you get the best working laptops at the best prices.
As laptop specs change often, it is good to get non-vendor/non-partisan/non-groupie information so you should do some checking on these review/guide sites to help fine tune your search.
At each site, start by checking models and then compare them with others (or against each other) by choosing different options using boxes and drop down menus to customize the search and get what you want in your laptop ( there is even a way on some of those sites to look by inputting the price you are willing to pay to minimize the impact on your wallet ).
Your time will not be wasted (after all, you get all this from the comfort of your home) and you should find something to your liking and budget.

P.S.: By the way, I own a Dell
but it’s an older model (2002) on the way out soon (to be replaced by a still unknown brand as I will be doing research).
